Shirley M. Malcom

Head of Education and Human Resources Programs, American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)

Shirley Malcom is senior advisor, AAAS. A trustee of Caltech and regent of Morgan State University, she formerly served on the National Science Board and on President Clinton’s Committee of Advisors on Science and Technology. Malcom, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, received her PhD in ecology from Penn State, masters in zoology from UCLA and bachelor’s in zoology from the University of Washington.Malcom serves on the boards of the Heinz Endowments, Public Agenda, NMSI and Digital Promise. In 2003, she received the Public Welfare Medal of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, the highest award given by the Academy.
