Scott Spangler

Scott Spangler is Chief Data Scientist, Distinguished Engineer, and Master Inventor in the Watson Health Life Sciences Group at the IBM Almaden Research Center. He has been doing knowledge base and data mining research for the past 25 years. Since coming to IBM in 1996, Scott has developed solutions for data visualization and text mining, which have been incorporated in many software and service offerings. His most recent work has been to apply Watson technology to help accelerate cancer and neurological research. Scott has a Bachelors in Math from MIT and a Masters in Computer Science from the University of Texas. Scott holds 50 patents and has authored over 30 publications, including two books on text mining and accelerating discovery.
