Paul Anastas

Paul Anastas is an American chemist widely known as the founder of Green Chemistry. He is a Professor at Yale University and Director of the Yale Center for Green Chemistry and Green Engineering, where his work focuses on designing chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate hazardous substances. Paul Anastas co-authored the 12 Principles of Green Chemistry, which have become a global framework for sustainable chemical innovation across academia, industry, and policy. He previously served as Assistant Administrator at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the Office of Research and Development and has played a key role in shaping international sustainability and innovation strategies.
