Nancy Cox

Vanderbilt Genetics Institute

Nancy Cox is a quantitative human geneticist with a long-standing research program to identify and characterize the genetic component to common human diseases. She earned a BS in Biology from the University of Notre Dame in 1978, a PhD in Human Genetics from Yale University in 1982, and did post-doctoral work at Washington University and the University of Pennsylvania before joining the University of Chicago in 1987, where she worked for 28 years. She moved in 2015 to become the inaugural Director of the Vanderbilt Genetics Institute, Director of the Division of Genetic Medicine, and the Mary Phillips Edmonds Gray Professor of Genetics.
