Michele Parrinello

Michele Parrinello is head of the atomistic simulation group at Italian Institute of Technology in Genoa (Italy). He is known for having developed and successfully applied several advanced methods that have greatly expanded the scope of simulations. He has also pioneered the use of machine learning methodologies in this field. Parrinello’s scientific interests are strongly interdisciplinary and include the study of complex chemical reactions, materials science and protein dynamics. He has been awarded numerous prizes, seven honorary degrees, is a member of the most important scientific academies, and his work is highly cited.
