Gretchen Terry-Leonard

Gretchen Terry-Leonard, the driving force behind I’M IN – EMD Serono’s signature health equity initiative, is dedicated to improving healthcare throughout her thirty-year career. Starting as a dietitian interested in how neuroscience intersects with the microbiome, Gretchen’s passion and innovative thinking have positioned her as a leading figure in health equity. Her work, supported by Merck KGaA, focuses on breaking down barriers in healthcare through forward-thinking programs and partnerships. Since founding I’M IN in 2019, she has led initiatives to address health disparities, particularly in the multiple sclerosis space. She collaborates with experts worldwide, including Nobel Laureate Tawakkol Karman, the Nobel Women’s Initiative, and the Economist Impact Group. In 2021, the I’M IN Health Equity Fellowships launch was a crucial achievement aimed at lessening inequalities in neurology, fertility, and oncology, with 17 national Fellows striving to improve health care for all. Gretchen’s approach is characterized by her relentless curiosity, innovative vision, and strategic execution, which turn challenges into pathways for innovation and a more inclusive healthcare system for all.
