Kerstin Göpfrich

Kerstin Göpfrich is a German biophysicist and professor at Heidelberg University, where she specializes in RNA design and synthetic cells. After earning a physics degree from the University of Erlangen, she completed her Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge as a Gates Cambridge Fellow. She later led a research group at the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research and currently serves as spokesperson for the “SynthImmune” excellence cluster. Her award-winning research includes an ERC Starting Grant and the Alfried Krupp Prize. She is also co-founder of “Ring-a-Scientist,” a public science communication initiative.
