Did postdoctoral studies at EMBL and UCLA. Since 1993 is a Professor at The Salk Institute.His background is in developmental biology and he has spearheaded the regenerative medicine field with key discoveries including:Dedifferentiation and epigenetic modifications that allow for organ regeneration.Novel pluripotent/progenitor cell states that may allow for generation of human organs.Prevention and treatment of nuclear and mitochondrial monogenic diseases.Novel drivers and stem cell models of human aging.
