Chi-Huey Wong

Dr. Wong is the Scripps Family Chair Professor of Chemistry at The Scripps Research Institute. A pioneer in glycosylation chemistry, he developed the landmark programmable and enzymatic methods for synthesizing complex carbohydrates and glycoproteins. His current research focuses on the precision engineering of Fc-glycosylation to enhance therapeutic antibodies and the design of universal vaccines. By decoding how glycans regulate viral infection, cancer, and immune responses, Dr. Wong is advancing the field toward AI-driven, predictive medicines. He is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and a recipient of the Wolf Prize and the Welch Award in Chemistry.
